About the Person-Centered Training Program

Our online learning management system includes 10 interactive videos with questions, supplemental materials and self-assessments. The program is for beginning and intermediate levels and can be started at any time. The full training program takes three hours to complete.
After completion of the 10 courses, you will receive 3 Continuing Education Hours.

Target Audience: Mental Health Professionals, Direct Service Providers, Case Managers, Nurses, Teachers, and Paraprofessionals

Course Topics/Descriptions:

Treat Me with Respect: Learn and listen about the struggles and accomplishments from the perspective of one client.

Client Engagement: Learn how to better engage with your clients and establish meaningful connections, with real-life examples of what to do and what not to do.

Boundaries: Understand the appropriate boundaries you need to have with both your clients and co-workers.

Challenging Behaviors: Get the tools and strategies you need to help address and manage clients’ emotions and challenging behaviors.

Burnout: Learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of burnout and develop a self-care plan for your own personal wellness, so you can better serve your clients.

Safety: Be aware of the need for safety in your day-to-day interaction with clients and learn how to be safe in specific situations.

Effective Documentation: Learn why paperwork is a vital part of serving your clients and how to make documentation more efficient and effective.

HIPAA: Learn the basic concepts of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), with a focus on adherence to privacy and confidentiality laws.

Conducting a Team Meeting: Watch how a successful multidisciplinary team meeting works and how to effectively conduct or participate in the meeting.

Effective Supervision: Develop supervisory skills and understand how being an effective supervisor will benefit your team and your clients.

Learning Objectives 

At the conclusion of the Person-Centered Training program, participants will be able to:

• Identify the fundamental skills that lead to engagement.
• Identify the fundamental skills necessary in decreasing the escalation of behavior.
• List and describe the 3 distinct phases of behavior escalation.
• List common areas of concern associated with boundaries.
• Explain negative outcomes for setting boundaries.
• List signs and symptoms of burnout.
• Identify the difference between subjective and objective statements.
• Identify what information is protected by HIPAA.
• Describe how to properly prepare for safety-focused client interactions.
• Identify the key skills needed for conducting a team meeting.
• List the 7-Step structure for participating in or conducting a team meeting.

Continuing Education Credit

Continuing Education Credit is through Commonwealth Educational Seminars for the following professions.
Licensed Professional Counselors/
Licensed Mental Health Counselors:

Commonwealth Educational Seminars (CES) is entitled to award continuing education credit for Licensed Professional Counselors/Licensed Mental Health Counselors.

Social Workers:

Commonwealth Educational Seminars (CES) is entitled to award continuing education credit for Social Workers. Please visit CES CE CREDIT to see all states that are covered for Social Workers. CES maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Commonwealth Educational Seminars is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers. #SW-0444.
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists:

Commonwealth Educational Seminars (CES) is entitled to award continuing education credit for Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists.

As an American Psychological Association (APA) approved provider, CES programs are accepted by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). These courses can be utilized by nurses to renew their certification and will be accepted by the ANCC. 

Every state Board of Nursing accepts ANCC approved programs except California and Iowa, however CES is also an approved Continuing Education provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing (Provider # CEP15567) which is also accepted by the Iowa Board of Nursing.

About the Presenters

Meagan E. Vogel and Michael J. Maher founded Elite Solutions in 2018 to enhance the knowledge, skills, and motivation or human service professionals. Our online training program has a client-centered focus that reinforces the elements of respect and dignity.
Vogel has a bachelor’s degree in social work and a master’s degree in leadership. Maher has a master’s degree in counseling and is licensed by the State of Iowa as a mental health counselor.
